The
Construction Entrepreneurship & Office
Skills Training Program is a
multi faceted training program designed
to provide the skill and knowledge needed
to be well-rounded office worker in the
construction industry. The training can
be broken down into five major categories,
Building Codes, Safety Training, Construction
Office Skills, Work Readiness and Basic
Computer Skills. A multidisciplinary
team of professionals will deliver the
courses. Once the student has completed
the program he/she will be able to enter
into the field as an entry level office
employee with the skills to succeed in
the competitive construction industry.

Classes will take place
on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays
from 4:00pm-8:00pm, at The Center. The
Center will provide all materials, manuals,
and software.
The Building Code
sections of the program will include the
following modules: Fire Codes, Residential Building Codes, Commercial Building Codes, Licensing Requirements, OSHA, DEM
and Energy Codes, a presentation
by Energy Star House Program and Rebates
for Builders will also be incorporated.
All of the code modules in this section
will be delivered by either state or city
officials who are in charge of enforcing
the regulations.
The Safety Training
portion of the program will include the
OSHA Approved Construction
Safety Course and Standard First
Aid (6 ½ hours).This course
provides hands-on first aid and adult
CPR training and explains how to use an
AED for victims of sudden cardiac arrest.
In the Construction
Office Skills Training section
of the program thestudent
will take a 16 hour Basic Blue Print
Reading Course, Quest Digital
Estimating and Master Builders
Digital Project Management. This
section of the training has been designed
to assist the student in streaming lining
various processes, it also provides the
students with some of latest and most
advanced digital technologies in the construction
field.
The Basic Computer
Skills training portions of
the program are all eight hour modules
consisting of Introduction to Computers,
Microsoft Word, Power Point, Excel,
Introduction to The Internet, E-mail/Outlook
and Excel. Workforce Partnership
of Greater Rhode Island will also make
a three hour presentation on their On-The-Job Training
Program. OJT program can enable a
participating employer to be able to be reimbursed
for up to 50% of a new employee’s
wages throughout the OJT training period
up to a maximum of six months.
The Work Readiness
component of the training program will
teach the student how to write an effective
resume and cover letter,
familiarity with effective interviewings trategies,
and basic life skills for keeping
a job.
